Some of the old churches, notably the church of the old Saint Nikolaos, where the poet Provellegios is buried are certainly worth visiting. On the northeast edge of the village, close to the church of Saint Dimitrios, you will find the ruins of an old castle. On the way to pharos and Platys Yialos you will encounter the monastery of the Virgin Mary, Vrisiani (1642), in the monastery's cemetery, by the chapel of the little Virgin is the tomb of Nikolaos Chrisogellos (1780-1857), one of the heroes of the Independence War, but also a pioneer of educational development in Greece, "as well as Minister of education in the first government of the modern Greek state, under Prime Minister Kapodistrias.
